Most fossil-based polymers were developed in the mid-20th century without end-of-life considerations. Consequently, modern recycling is merely an end-of-pipe solution. Due to these inherent material limitations, recycling rates will soon plateau. This talk explores the potential of introducing fundamentally new commodity plastics to overcome these historical design flaws.
